The letters to the world leaders written by the Syrian
children going to school in Kilis have been collected into a book. In
the book prepared by the Municipality of Kilis called ‘Letters from
Syrian Children!’, sixty-six children who wrote about their suffering
gave the leaders the message “Stop the War”. The letters have been
exhibited at the stand opened by the Municipality of Kilis for the World
Humanitarian Summit organised in Istanbul.
A total of twenty thousand one hundred and forty Syrian children are
being schooled, with seven thousand seven hundred and thirty-five at the
Temporary Education Centres in Kilis, twelve thousand at Elbeyli and
Öncüpınar container cities’ nursery class, primary education, middle and
high school and at the orphanage four hundred and five children between
the ages of five to fourteen.
The sole desire of the sixty-six children of different ages is to go back to Syria as soon as possible.
