New Article by William Hanna: Was Barack Obama Part Of A Staged Political Charade To Help Get Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu Reelected?

Hi all,

in the following I would like to introduce you to a new critical article by William Hanna about the relation between Netanyahu and Obama.

thanks for reading and sharing

Dr. phil. Milena Rampoldi – ProMosaik e.V.

“If Iran were to acquire nuclear weapons,
this could presage catastrophic consequences, not only for my country, and not
only for the Middle East, but for all mankind . . . the deadline for attaining
this goal is getting extremely close.”

Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress in
July 1996.

Prior to Israel’s
recent legislative election in March when political pollsters and pundits were
prophesying a possible defeat for Prime Minister Netanyahu — and progress was
being made with the Iranian nuclear negotiations — the pealing of Zionist alarm
bells became so frantic and loud that drastic measures were called for to
staunch even a remote possibility of an Isaac Herzog — Labour Party leader and
supporter of the illusionary two-state solution http://europe.newsweek.com/create-palestinian-state-secure-israel-and-its-citizens-says-herzog-314302
— outright victory or a governing coalition with Tzipi Livni’s
“Hatnuah” Party.

“Naturally the common people don’t want war: Neither in
Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood.
But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and
it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy,
or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice
or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and
denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to
danger. It works the same in any country.”

Hermann Goering, German politician, military leader, and leading member of the Nazi Party
at the Nuremberg Trials

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it,
people will eventually come to believe it . . .”

Joseph Goebbels,
German Nazi politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda.

So Netanyahu was obliged yet
again to resort to the tried and tested alarmist tactic which he first used in
1992 when as a parliamentarian he advised the Israeli Knesset that Iran was
“three to five years” away from reaching nuclear weapons capability, and that
this threat had to be “uprooted by an international front headed by the U.S..”
Then in 1995, despite the lapse of some three years, he again asserted in his
book Fighting Terrorism, that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in “three
to five years”  — a warning he repeated in an address to a joint session
of Congress in 1996.

By 2002 Netanyahu had switched
his “nuclear threat” focus onto Iraq by testifying before the U.S. Congress —
despite Iraq’s nonexistent nuclear program — that Iraq was “advancing towards
the development of nuclear weapons” and was in fact so advanced that the
country was now operating “centrifuges the size of washing
machines.” Following the illegal invasion and destruction of Iraq by a U.S. led
Western alliance at Israel’s instigation, Netanyahu refocused on Iran.

A 2009 Wikileaks
released U.S. State Department diplomatic cable
, stated that then-prime ministerial
candidate Netanyahu informed a visiting Congressional delegation that Iran
was “probably one or two years away” from nuclear weapons capability. And
again later that year as the then incumbent Prime Minister, Netanyahu informed
a different U.S. Delegation that “Iran has the capability now to make one bomb
. . . they could wait and make several bombs in a year or two.”

By 2012, with
still no sign of an Iranian “messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic
bombs,” Netanyahu, according to Israeli media reports, stated in closed talks
that Iran is just “a few months away” from nuclear capability. He followed that
up later in the year with a universally laughed at address to the United
Nations where with a printout of a cartoon bomb, he alleged that
Iran would have the ability to construct a weapon within roughly one
year. And all this despite Mossad analyses to the contrary
. In 2011, departing Mossad intelligence
chief Meir Dagan had in his final intelligence summary stated that an Iranian
nuclear weapon is in fact not imminent,
and that any military action against Iran could possibly serve to
spur its development of  nuclear weapons.

Therefore in order
to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat — at the hands of an electorate that
was mostly racist, opposed to an independent Palestinian state (they want it
all), and wary of an Iranian nuclear capability — Netanyahu, journeyed to
Washington to address a joint session of Congress in early March where to loud
applause and standing ovations he once again repeated his blatant lie about
Iran’s nuclear capability with a view to both enhancing his image back in
Israel and scuppering the Iranian nuclear negotiations in Washington. This
raises he question as to whether U.S. Presidents and members of the bicameral
Congress are simply gullible, extremely stupid, or just downright corrupt as
they pocket shiny shekels from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee
(AIPAC).

Back in Israel
just before polling day — and while ignoring
his 2009 speech that voiced support for the
principle of two states for two peoples — Netanyahu stressed his right-wing
credentials by pledging if reelected he
would keep “all parts” of Jerusalem, to continue building in its controversial
neighbourhoods,  and that a Palestinian state would not be created on his
watch. Then on polling day he made a racist appeal by urging
his constituents to go out and vote because “the right wing rule is in danger”
and that “the Arabs are flocking in droves to the polling stations.”

While Netanyahu’s
duplicitous amoral shenanigans may have improved his chances of reelection, they
also confirmed Israel’s long-held intentions and exposed its participation in
so-called peace negotiations as a complete sham.  In response to
Netanyahu’s candid revelations, the White House and mainstream media hinted
ominously at a cooling of relations between the two nations thereby alarming
Israelis who — faced with the prospects losing U.S. support and lucre; an
Iranian nuclear capability; and an overwhelming number of Arabs turning out to
vote — rushed to the polls and saved the day for Netanyahu.

Back in the U.S.
President Obama’s reaction to Netanyahu’s bombshell revelations and unexpected
reelection was to first feign pique by waiting for several days before making
the traditional congratulatory phone call, and then mealy mouthing that the
U.S. supports the two-state solution in the Israeli conflict despite the
Netanyahu’s strong pre-election rhetoric. He further added with suitably sombre
effect that
he had been
“evaluating” his policy towards Israel in the wake of Netanyahu’s re-election
and campaign statements, and that a two-state solution is “the only way for the
long-term security of Israel, if it wants to stay both a Jewish state and
democratic.”

President Obama’s hint at a new
and tough “evaluation” of relations with Israel may have offered a a ray of
hope for the persecuted Palestinian people and their supporters, but it proved
to be meaningless when he approved the sale of 19 “stealth” aircraft at
a cost of $2.7 billion, which will be deducted from US aid funds to
Israel. This not only confirmed the influence of AIPAC over the U.S.
government, but also raised the question of how far Israel would have to go in
violating with impunity international and human rights law before the U.S.
would finally take positive action that was compatible with its hypocritical
claim to be the hallmark of democracy and human rights.

Following prolonged negotiations
with other parties, Netanyahu eventually finalised his coalition. by making a
deal with Bayit Yehudi’s Naftali Bennett and Ayalet Shaked with the latter
being appointed as justice minister in his fourth government. During last
summer’s barbarous attack on Gaza, Ayalet Shaked expressed the view that “the
entire Palestinian people is the enemy” and should be destroyed “including its
elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its
infrastructure.” Which is of course what Israel has been doing for decades with
U.S. assistance and money.

Following Netanyahu’s reelection
and formation of a coalition government, President Obama’s feigned pique was
abandoned and it was back to business as usual with a simple White House
announcement that “President Obama congratulates Israeli people, Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and new governing coalition on formation of
Israel’s new government,” and that the administration anticipates consultations
on a range of issues, including Iran’s nuclear aspirations and the importance
of two-state solution.

The 1982 Sabra and Shatila
massacre (http://www.democracynow.org/2014/1/13/noam_chomsky_sabra_shatila_massacre_that)
war criminal and former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, had many faults
and expressed many controversial racist views but he was absolutely right about
one thing:

“Every time we do something you tell me Americans will
do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear, don’t worry
about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and
the Americans know it.”

AMEN
