The “advancement of
democracy” overseas first became an integral part of U.S. foreign policy

international stage and used the “Advancement of democracy” as an excuse

number of undemocratic ways including the Alien Registration Act which

Industry in 1947 by the House Un-American Activities Committee; and an

Corps being decisively defeated at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu — March

killed or maimed some 400,000 and to this day is still afflicting three
million as a result birth defects — and that is without counting the
millions more of their relatives who bear the hardship of looking after
them; between 200,000 and 250,000 South Vietnamese soldiers killed;

Further persistent and clandestine U.S. interference in Latin America came to light November 3, 1986 when the Lebanese magazine Ash-Shiraa

August 1988), Iran secretly requested — despite an arms sales embargo
against it — to purchase weapons from the United states. In seeking

connections to benefit of Israel. In a January 2002 National Review Online
article, Bryen promoted the false premise that Iraq had maintained a
well-developed biological weapons program since the 1991 Gulf War,
making it the “leading threat” to “global survival,” and even before
9/11 he was part of a core group of foreign policy hardliners and
neoconservatives who advocated overthrowing Saddam Hussein.
