In journalism and
translation, research is fundamental. Why?
translation, research is fundamental. Why?
Thanks for this opportunity you are giving me
as an author. Well, research is important because any piece of information to
be used professionally should be both accurate and suitable to its initial
purposes. Hence the need to scour available data sources to find trustworthy
information.

Internet is the library of
our modern times. Which are the main difficulties with the research on the net?

The main challenges include coping with the
vastness of the Internet and being quick and efficient. Since there are numerous
sources of information, Search It, Find It highlights the need to plan
ahead (so as to search purposefully) and to always cross-check (to ensure any
data found is not only relevant, but also the best fit).

How important is
intercultural understanding in translation?
intercultural understanding in translation?
Intercultural understanding is of paramount
importance in translation. Better still, it is one of its fundamentals, because
translators are always struggling to bring down language/cultural differences
and take messages across borders, lifestyles, and time-related constraints.

Which is the main aim you
pursue with this book?
pursue with this book?
Although initially written for translators,
this book’s main aim is to help any readers build capacity on Internet
browsing and online data research – considered nowadays as
essential skills for every professional.

What does the profession of
translator mean to you?
translator mean to you?
Being a translator means helping people all
over the world communicate effectively. As we help spread information and knowledge
across linguistic barriers, this is our humble contribution in making the world
a better place for people from any culture, race, and background.

I think translation
can contribute a lot to the dialogue with other cultures and people, and has a strong
anti-colonialist importance, and can also help to struggle against racism. What
do you think about it?

do you think about it?
Sure, translation is mediation on steroids.
Since most conflicts stem from either misunderstanding or misinformation,
translators – as earlier said – contribute in spreading knowledge. Under favorable
circumstances, they can foster effective communication and sensitization,
therefore getting people closer to one another through written content they have
access to.
