The Racist Hypocrisy of Western Nations Is Tantamount to Criminal Complicity in Crimes Against Humanity – Part two

William Hanna
“Not so funny money” stickers by Jay Soule, aka Chippewar, are a reminder of the actions of those people who adorned Canadian currency.

Canadian leaders who helped resolve the “Indian problem” included British General Jeffery Amherst — a highly acclaimed righteous Christian, and extremely civilised white man — who was renowned for being the architect of Britain’s successful campaign to conquer the territory of New France during the Seven Years War. He commanded the British forces responsible for capturing the cities of Louisbourg, Quebec City, Montreal, and several major fortresses. As a result of being the first British Governor General in the territories that eventually became Canada, Amherst had numerous places and streets named for him in both the US and Canada.
Amherst was made a lord for his numerous “achievements,” which included advocating the extermination of the race of indigenous people during Pontiac’s War — also known as Pontiac’s Rebellion by a loose confederation of dissatisfied Native American tribes primarily from the Great Lakes region — by means of biological warfare that would involve giving them handkerchiefs and blankets infected with smallpox.
Amherst was of course not alone in endowing Canada with the white Christian concept of civilised justice and his achievements for the new nation were surpassed by another who was given a knighthood for his infamy: Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first prime minister, deliberately starved thousands of aboriginal people to clear a path for the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CPR) which helped open up the prairies for white settlement. Macdonald’s “National Dream” caused Canada’s First Nations — Aboriginal peoples — to lose their health, their independence, and in many cases even their lives.
Aboriginal peoples were also afflicted by both nature and contagious diseases beginning with the European fur traders who infected them with smallpox, measles, and influenza to which they had no immunity. Then came the building of the CPR, and the near-extinction of the bison — on which they were dependent for food — leading to malnutrition. In desperation, they sought assistance from Ottawa, in the expectation that Macdonald would honour the treaties he had signed with them — in anticipation of thriving agrarian economy in the western plains — guaranteeing food and a livelihood in times of famine.
Needless to say Macdonald refused their request and ordered officials at the Department of Indian Affairs in Prince Albert to withhold food from them until they moved to federally designated reserves far from the path of the CPR. By complying with this condition, they became trapped within reservations and could leave only with the permission of the government’s Indian agent. Without the necessary freedom of movement, Aboriginal men could not hunt for food, and without arable land could not resort to farming. When they complained, they had their already meagre food rations cut, and even if they were compliant, the food was invariably substandard with one contaminated shipment causing a mass outbreak of tuberculosis.
The starving of Canada’s Aboriginal peoples was not accidental, but a deliberate policy with Macdonald having sent directives to federal officials ordering them to deny food to the First Nations. He even unashamedly bragged about his despicable inhumanity which kept the indigenous population “on the verge of actual starvation” so as to save the government money.
Meanwhile, apart from being starved, aboriginal women were also being indiscriminately raped and brutally murdered thereby creating a racist, depraved, and violent colonial past that had endured to this very day with a culture where no Indigenous woman or girl is safe. A report two years ago had confronted Canada’s dark history of abuse in residential schools where for more than a century attempts were made to assimilate thousands of native children who were physically and sexually abused by priests and nuns https://bit.ly/2m4HFXe. Despite an acknowledgement of, and an apology for such crimes by the Canadian prime mister in 2008, his government continued to deny that it was a form of genocide. Even the Pope has so far remained silent instead of having the decency to apologise for the abuse inflicted on Canada’s indigenous children by Catholic priests and nuns at as many as 80 forced-conversion gulags, euphemistically referred to as “residential schools.”
In today’s Canada sexual predators are still able to commit horrendous crimes against Indigenous girls and women with relative impunity because the country’s civilised society chooses to look the other way. It is a civilised society where a predator can physically assault little Indigenous girls, drive them to remote locations, and rape them before leaving them without their clothes to fend for themselves. A disproportionate number of indigenous women and girls continue to be brutalised, raped, murdered, and go missing without their families getting justice or closure https://bit.ly/2kfLWGW.
The existence of that present day culture evolved from the methodical and strategic racist policy of sexually objectifying the bodies, minds, and spirits of Indigenous women as a means of deliberately brutalising and oppressing them. That colonial policy was still in existence globally where even today, imperialism still seeks subjugation of an occupied territory’s population through the dislocation, isolation, rape, and murder of women and girls. Part of that inhumanity is evident in Canada where even though Indigenous people account for only four percent of total population, 43 percent of women federally sentenced to prison, were Indigenous. Furthermore over 25 percent of all inmates in the Canada’s federal prisons are indigenous
That white supremacist mentality also exists down under in the Southern Hemisphere. During Darwin’s 1836 stay in Australia, the indigenous people — including those of Tasmania, and New Zealand — were subject to a calamitous population crash from which the region has never recovered. In Tasmania the British enslaved, slaughtered, and kidnapped the Black people with black men being used for target practice, black women being used as sex slaves, and black babies being roasted. For native Tasmanians in particular there was no recovery because they were all dead. A combination of disease, starvation, war, and deliberate policies of kidnapping and “reeducating” Aborigine children ensured the decimation of Australia’s indigenous population which declined from well over a million in 1788 to just a few thousand by the early twentieth century.
“Wherever the European has trod, death seems to pursue the aboriginal. We may look to the wide extent of the Americas, Polynesia, the Cape of Good Hope, and Australia, and we find the same result . . . ”
Charles Darwin (1809–1882), English naturalist, Geologist, and biologist
The New World was not the only victim of white European colonialism and Africa was also a target for brutal exploitation. Portuguese cruelty in present-day African countries such as Guinea-Bissau, Angola, and Mozambique never came close to being as barbaric as Belgium’s rape of the Congo where during King Leopold II’s reign (1865-1909) up to fifteen million Congolese — well over half of the total population — were enslaved and massacred as a result of starvation, disease and overwork. As those victims were “inferior” Africans, they were subsequently deemed undeserving of the genocide memorials, museums, and annual “holocaust” remembrance days accompanied by the wide Western media coverage that they would have otherwise received had they been superior and sanctified white Christians, or even more blessed and supreme Jews deserving of the divine preference that led to them being a people “chosen” by God Himself who promised them Palestine: a mythical promise of which we are constantly reminded as justification for Israeli crimes against humanity.
“Evangelise the niggers so that they stay forever in submission to the white colonialists, so they never revolt against the restraints they are undergoing. Recite every day — ‘happy are those who are weeping because the kingdom of God is for them.’ Convert always the blacks by using the whip. Keep their women in nine months of submission to work freely for us. Force them to pay you in sign of recognition — goats, chickens or eggs — every time you visit their villages. And make sure that niggers never become rich. Sing every day that it’s impossible for the rich to enter heaven. Make them pay tax each week at Sunday mass. Use the money supposed for the poor, to build flourishing business centres. Institute a confessional system, which allows you to be good detectives denouncing any black that has a different consciousness contrary to that of the decision-maker. Teach the niggers to forget their heroes and to adore only ours. Never present a chair to a black that comes to visit you. Don’t give him more than one cigarette. Never invite him for dinner even if he gives you a chicken every time you arrive at his house.”
King Leopold II of Belgium (1835-1909), a most despicable individual infamous for the founding and exploitation of the Congo Free State as a private enterprise that included unspeakable atrocities being perpetrated during his rule.
Yet it was from millions of those inferior African, Arab, Chinese, Indian, and Vietnamese soldiers and labourers that British and French forces sought help while fighting in Europe and several other ancillary theatres of the First World War. The contribution to the allied war effort by soldiers from the colonies, however, had more often than not been downplayed, overlooked, or deliberately forgotten. It is for example doubtful that many present day Westerners are actually aware of the sacrifices made by the 2,500,000 Muslims — 4,000,000 counting labourers — who travelled to the chill of an unfriendly Europe to fight for the allies during that Great War https://bit.ly/2lEl2c1. That reality prompted the German sociologist Max Weber to note in 1917 “today on the Western Front, there stands a dross of African and Asiatic savages and all the world’s rabble of thieves and lumpens.” Strange how those who regard themselves as being civilised and superior have been, and still are, incapable of living up to the pretensions of their self-professed white supremacy.
White European partiality for racist and xenophobic sentiments has persisted to this day with a report from the FRA (European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights) concluding that there was still much to be done to overcome racism, xenophobia and related intolerance.
“Racist and xenophobic reactions towards refugees, asylum seekers and migrants persisted across the European Union in 2016. Muslims experienced growing hostility and intolerance, while discrimination and anti-anti-Romanism continued to affect many Roma. The European Commission set up a High Level Group on combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance to support national efforts in this area, as well as to counter hate crime and hate speech. EU Member States targeted hate crime in diverse ways, reviewing classifications of bias motivations, conducting awareness-raising campaigns and providing specialised training to law enforcement officers and prosecutors. Meanwhile, the European Commission continued to monitor implementation of the Racial Equality Directive. Recurring challenges include various impediments to equality bodies’ effectiveness and independence, discriminatory ethnic profiling and a lack of national action plans to fight racism.”
Unfortunately the current fascist plague has spread beyond Europe to become a dangerous global phenomenon https://bit.ly/2lJ0kb0. This is particularly evident in the US where in the 2016 presidential election 62,984,828 Americans voted for a mentally disturbed racist to become president. More than 60,000 mental health professionals subsequently signed petitionhttps://bit.ly/2kGOVs7 which stated:
“We, the undersigned mental health professionals, believe in our professional judgment that Donald Trump manifests a serious mental illness that renders him psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of President of the United States. And we respectfully request he be removed from office, according to article 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’”
During his campaign Trump was repeatedly explicit with his bigoted remarks which ranged from calling Mexican immigrants criminals and rapists to proposing a ban on all Muslims entering the US https://bit.ly/2Ix5iCT. The fact that so many Americans embraced Trump’s pandering to their white supremacist instincts is perhaps nor surprising. The US has after all been responsible for killing More Than 20 Million People — mostly in what Trump regards as being “shithole” countries — in 37 “Victim Nations” Since World War II https://bit.ly/2m6Z55y.
Equally unsurprising, has been the gradual Nazification of Israel since its inception https://bit.ly/2kF99m2 in 1948. A Nazification that was the inevitable consequence of Apartheid policies that required “separateness” from the indigenous Palestinian people who are still having their culture and history brutally obliterated by the heinous denial of all their human rights. In his book Israel’s Fateful Hour, Yehoshafat Harkabi — Chief of Israeli Military Intelligence (1955-9) and subsequently a professor of International Relations and Middle East Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem — called for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied territories and warned as follows:
“We Israelis must be careful lest we become not a source of pride for Jews but a distressing burden. Israel is the criterion according to which all Jews will tend to be judged. Israel as a Jewish state is an example of the Jewish character, which finds free and concentrated expression within it. Anti-Semitism has deep and historical roots. Nevertheless, any flaw in Israeli conduct, which initially is cited as anti-Israelism, is likely to be transformed into empirical proof of the validity of anti-Semitism. It would be a tragic irony if the Jewish state, which was intended to solve the problem of anti-Semitism, was to become a factor in the rise of anti-Semitism. Israelis must be aware that the price of their misconduct is paid not only by them but also Jews throughout the world. In the struggle against anti-Semitism, the frontline begins in Israel.”
