Israeli Secret intelligence service Mossad accused of assassinating Palestinian academic in Malaysia

Fadi M.
al-Batsh, a Palestinian engineer and
academic
who had been living in Malaysia for ten years was
assassinated while riding his motorcycle to a local mosque.

Local
police reports indicate that al-Batsh was shot by two assailants who ambushed
him on the road. The family of al-Batsh as well as others in Palestine have
accused Mossad, otherwise known as the “Israeli Secret Intelligence Service” of
orchestrated the illegal murder of al-Batsh.
Khaled
al-Batash, a relative of the diseased and an active member of the Palestinian
group Islamic Jihad give an interview with Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen
television where he said,
“The
Israeli Mossad. The Israeli Mossad stood behind the assassination of educated
people and intellectuals because Israel knows Palestine will be liberated by
scientist. Therefore, they tracked this young educated man”.
Khaled
further called on Malaysian authorities to “conduct a comprehensive and rapid
investigation to prevent the escape of the assassins”.

Kuala
Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim has stated, “The suspect fired 10 shots, four
of which hit the lecturer in the head and body. He died on the spot. We believe
the lecturer was their target because two other individuals walked by the place
earlier unharmed”.
Turkey’s
Daily Sabah further reports,
 “Malaysian
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the suspects were believed to be
Europeans with links to a foreign intelligence agency, state news agency
Bernama reported.
He added
the victim had links with foreign intelligence and was active in
pro-Palestinian non-governmental organisations, describing him as an expert in
electrical engineering and rocket-building.

He
received his Ph.D degree from the University of Malaya in 2015 and was a senior
lecturer at the British Malaysian Institute. His official biography said his
research interests included power converters, power quality and renewable
energy.

Al- Batsh
was also vocal about the Palestinian cause on social media. He had shared many
tweets supporting the Great March for Return and also posted about slain
Palestinian journalist Yaser Murtaja”.
It is
clear from the evidence from Malaysia that Fadi M. R. al-Batsh was
conspicuously targeted by foreign assassins answer to an “Israeli” description.
As Mossad has a grim history of killing its self-defined enemies on foreign
soil in addition to orchestrating terrorist atrocities abroad, it is imperative
for Malaysian authorities to act quickly to expose the murderous agents of a
foreign regime, detain them and rapidly bring them to justice. If convicted,
al-Batsh’s killers could receive the death penalty as Malaysia continues to
hang those found guilty of murder.

While the
assassination of al-Batsh has gained coverage in the Arab world, Turkey
and Malaysia, wider international coverage has been woefully inadequate. While
the alleged attempted murder of a former British spy of Russian origin called
Sergey Skripal was discussed at the UN Security Council, the far more serious
case of a successful targeted assassination of a Palestinian in Malaysia, whose
killers match the description, use the methods and have the motive of Mossad
agents of the “Israeli” regime , ought to be discussed at the highest levels of
government throughout the world.
