Killer Aadhaar Kills Another Aadivasi Woman By Denying Her Food

An aadivasi woman died of hunger in Dhowadnagal village in Hiranpur block of this Jharkhand district.
According to the villagers, the woman, identified as Lakhi Murmu (30), had not received food grains under the PDS scheme for the past four months resulting in her starvation death since she could not link her Aadhaar card to the PDS scheme.
The villagers said that the woman managed to survive all these days due to the food provided by them.
Earlier, Santoshi Kumari, an 11-year-old Dalit girl from Karimati Basti, died on September 27, 2017 reportedly of starvation after her family was denied rations due to lack of Aadhaar identification.
On receiving news of the incident on Wednesday, Hiranpur BDO and block supplies officer reached the village along with the district supplies officer and inquired into the reasons for the death of the woman.
This is the 12th reported killing by killer Aadhaar.
