South Africans see red over #BlackMonday

South Africa was experiencing a bag full of mixed emotions on Monday as smaller than expected crowds gathered around the country in support of the #BlackMonday movement, which called on South Africans to protest against President Jacob Zuma and his shocking cabinet reshuffle late last week.

Many South Africans have cited privilege, racism and selective protesting as their reasons for disapproving of the #BlackMonday. South Africans were united last week in mourning the death of struggle stalwart Ahmad Kathrada and showing their collective outrage at the sacking of finance minister Pravin Gordhan and an unprecendented number of other members of cabinet, but were sidetracked with issues of race and land on social media on Monday.
