Kariye Museum in Istanbul Fatih- Photos by Leyla and Aygun Uzunlar

Good evening from the editorial team of ProMosaik e.V.,
tonight we would like to show you our photos from the Kariye Museum (the Church
of the Holy Savior in Chora), in Istanbul Fatih. Here you can admire the best Byzantine mosaics of the whole region.
Our Turkish coordinator, Aygun Uzunlar, visited CHORA for us and send us the pictures you can see in this posts.
The Church was built in the 11th century. The interior decoration goes back to the beginning of the 14th century.
The mosaics are a wonderful example of Byzantine art, and are simply breathtaking.
For us, Istanbul is an example for the interreligious togetherness of monotheistic religions, a symbol of dialogue and tolerance.

Thanks for sharing these pictures!
Best regards
